Bullwhip effect in closed-loop supply chains with multiple reverse flows: a simulation study

چکیده

Abstract Due to the complex nature of some products and different quality returns, in closed-loop supply chains there might be types reverse processes flows, including repaired, refurbished, remanufactured, or recycled goods. These reprocessed goods return echelons chain according their quality, volume each type flow ( i.e. returns share) may significantly vary between chains, affecting dynamic behaviour entire system. The aim this work is explore impact among multiple flows a where member can have its own flow. We analyse four-echelon chain, collector charge collecting inspecting sending them depending on quality. An agent-based simulation model considering rates, coefficient variations for forward lead times, share developed evaluated terms bullwhip effect. observe that considerable medium–low enable effect reduction systems are shared all members chain. However, single moderate high preferable gain improvements both order inventory variability. From managerial point view, we provide useful recommendations companies adopting closed-loop.

The bullwhip effect in the closed loop supply chain

A simple system dynamics model of a traditional/closed loop supply chain system is investigated. Particularly, the effect of remanufacture, remanufacturing lead-time and the return rate on the inventory variance and bullwhip effect were studied. Our results clearly showed that the bullwhip in the closed loop supply chain is bigger than one in traditional supply chain and foreign to the collecti...

Management of Material Flows in Closed-Loop Supply Chains

Due to the latest developments in European environmental legislation, producers will be responsible for collecting, sorting and recycling of discarded products at the end of their service life. They will be charged by the total recycling costs which leads to higher lifecycle costs of their products. Therefore, a close cooperation with recycling companies and their integration in producers suppl...

Quantifying the bullwhip effect in supply chains

Consider multiple companies operating as a serial supply chain. Within this environment, end users form the demand for the last company in the supply chain, but the demand for upstream companies is formed by the companies in the immediate downstream supply chain link. It has been shown that demand seasonality and forecast error can increase as we proceed up the supply chain. These demand distor...

On the Bullwhip Effect Measure in Supply Chains with VAR (1) Demand Process

In this paper, a two-echelon supply chain, which includes two products based on the following considerations, has been studied and the bullwhip effect is quantified. Providing a measure for bullwhip effect that enables us to analyze and reduce this phenomenon in supply chains with two products is the basic purpose of this paper. Demand of products is presented by the first order vector autoregr...

Deterministic and Metaheuristic Solutions for Closed-loop Supply Chains with Continuous Price Decrease

In a global economy, an efficient supply chain as a main core competency empowers enterprises to provide products or services at the right time in the right quantity, at a low cost. This paper is to plan a single product, multi-echelon, multi-period closed loop supply chain for high-tech products (which have continuous price decrease). Ultimately, considering components rated to procurement, pr...
